Where to go when we're gone

I am working the nightshift and I am worried. Or rather, I was worried. I was afraid we would come to chicago and not know where to go. So I did a quick google-raid and I am now reassured.
Pretty much straight across the road from our hotel is a brewery with a pub. Phew...
So no worries!

Come Hell or High Water

It's 19.09 (*beep*) and the workday is winding down, one hour to go. Track & field on the telly. Shitty excuse for sports. If it ain't two teams and one ball of some kind then it's not a proper sport.

Aaaaanyway... I have a problem. Two days 'til the GAIS-train rolls towards Henkeborg and I still feel a bit ill. Can't have that. At the moment it's held at bay by a twice-daily dose of Fernet Branca but tomorrow is a 17 hour workday and that can be the last drop that makes it blossom to a full scale virus invasion of the immune-system.

So I need all fingers to be crossed. All breaths to be held. All gods to be spoken to. And don't forget the dark lords either, I'm taking no chances.

If all goes well I'll be there, even if I have to over-medicate myself compleatly on Fernet. And you'll get some drunken live-blog-entries come sunday. One can only hope...

Tick Tack

I read the linked entry inRobban's blog, and thought I might do a similar post about my day, just to give him even more perspective on his day. So here it is, my "Tick Tack" for today.

*wissles and clamour outside from football game* at about 8.34
Go to toilet
Brush teeth
Still feeling too hung over so back to bed
Wake up 13.30
Take a shower
Sit at computer doing nothing productive at all
Go to the market at the corner, buy juice
Go back and lie on the sofa watching a stupid movie.
~17.00 maybe get a pizza.
22.00 watch Bones
01.00 Go to bed

It's the hard-knock life for us, it's the hard-knock life for us...

EPL minus two weeks and counting

It is now two weeks until the premier league start again in England. About time to dream about the golden moments come and gone. And to check out the status of one team in particular. The team where such modern legends as Limpar, Schwarz, Bergkamp, Ian Wright, Adams....the list goes on when listing cool players.

It is, off course, Arsenal Football Club. Est 1886.

But what have they been up to in the silly season? Let's take a look.
What they needed from last year was a reliable goalscorer, a solid defender and perhaps someone evil in midfield to intimidate the opposition. Have they filled the gaps?

Players out:
Emmanuel Adebayor
Kolo Toure

Players in:
Thomas Vermaelen

So on paper, no they haven't done enough. I for one am glad money-crazy City bought Adebayor but we need to replace him with someone better. That Kolo Toure followed him there is worse, but hopefully Vermaelen will fill that gap. Other than that not much has happened. Arsenal never splash out much for players but maybe they should bring in some new talent to Emirate Stadium soon.

Still, it's not too late yet and there is talk of a old favourite returning. It is the man with some of the most evil tackles ever awarded, not punished with, a red card. It is Patrick Vieira. He would be welcome.

And up front english papers link Marouane Chamakh with a move to the Gunners. The Bordeaux striker scored 13 goals last season for his french club and has been targeted by a number of clubs. Maybe he will finally get Arsenal some glory? No pressure though...
To round things off, and because I know l'pool fans read this, I'll leave you with this golden moment in english football history:
